The Wall........ Stopped.

That's good news. We were there last week (on the pontoons) and the marina is a bit of a joke. How could they dredge that and build a cill or install a gate and make such a small area economically viable?

I rather think that is question they are starting to ask themselves now.
I am always amazed that people build silt traps. Instead of designing it so there is a through flow of water at high tide they build a single entrance and look upset when it silts up.....

Pleased to hear that, it looked a pretty dire solution to a problem that should have been predicted and avoided in the original development plan.

It was always a bit silly - let's build some flats for posh people with boats. Worked in Exmouth but Brightlingsea ain't intrinsically posh like other places where it would have been more appropriate.

I just posted the below on the other thread on this subject, so I thought I'd better delete that one and move it here - my apologies for the confusion

According the the Brightlingsea and Wivenhoe Gazette the wall is now scrapped. Instead the Brightlingsea Harbour Commisioners have negotiated with the marina owners that they can include the Marina dredge into their plans for an overall harbour dredging program, partly financed by the EU and planned to start by the end of the year. The dredged mud being used for saltmarsh regeneration.

Sounds like a victory for common sense and a much better use for the mud.
