Scenic, innit? In my memory (40 years ago) Tees mud had a very ICI smell to it. Full of polywotsits. Maybe it's got a bit cleaner since?

smells fine now

there is a general buzz of machinery - but otherwise a quiet place

lots of seals in the river now

Tees VTS a bit unhappy about me going up their river and told me that it was an industrial river and not a place for recreational boats

I told them that I intended to go as far as the transporter bridge and they told me to be careful

Cheeky sods! Mind you, Clydeport aren't much better: they think the Clyde's still a major industrial river and that wee boats have to keep out the way of the (virtually gone, in the upper Clyde at least) big stuff.

sorry for the bad typing - VTS of course

it is the first time I have ever had that reception - basically he did not want me up the Tees

it was well worth the trip though - if you like that sort of thing

I do feel that I am recording history when going up these places

they are changing all the time

by the way the image looks like something from dante if you look at the original
