Picked a superb day to skip work, had a marvellous day out messing about in an empty Solent under glorious sunshine. Lunch at the Folly followed by some practice pontoon bashing then this evening went to see these;-

On the way home. - obligatory wake shot

Wow those things look big.
Bigger in real life I bet.
Why 3 Queens for the last time, don't get it. I am thick or what?
'Lunch in the Folly' nice, was there a couple of years ago.
Low ceilings and lots of wood about.
Can't remember properly---- stayed too long!
QM2 pic is a cracker.
Wake shot YYYaaaawwwn /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Super photos. Really enjoyed them. I do prefer the look of the QM2 compared to some of the boxey floating glass appartment blocks that some try to pass as cruise liners. Still two weeks imprisoned on such cruise liners is a form of self inflicted claustraphobia that I'd rather avoid till a zimmer frame beckons.

[/ QUOTE ] I think QE2 is going out of service soon - presumably to become a "floating attraction" somewhere. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Thank for your photos. Here are a few of mine:

We passed this radio ship on the way up to the docks. Anyone know anything about it?

Queen Elizabeth 2 - the best looking one, I agree

And you can hear the sound of those wonderful horns on this bit of video. Simply glorious.

What a stunning day it was - weren't we lucky? /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I think the white dot by the bow of Victoria in the second last photo is me!

We had family on board the QV they said it was a spectacular send off for them.

Your photos (and Scarrons) are better than mine, it was a bit hazy for good long distance shots.

Oh - didn't spot you, sorry. I was keeping an eye out for forum flags, but didn't see any apart from mine and djefabs.

Mind you, I didn't see the MBM boat either - so questionable power of observation on my side /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Saw the QM2 float by our place while she was in HK last year. She really is a big'un. Like a properly big sky scraper on its side.

Great pics. Thanks for sharing.

Following up my own post - this looks like its been decked out as a radio ship to be in the Radio Caroline film:

[ QUOTE ]
"The Boat That Rocked" This current production for Working Title has required sourcing a 200ft ship built in 1964 as well as all the supporting action boats. It is to be rigged with radio masts for this comedy set in the sixties on a pirate radio ship.

Some more here

Who'd have guessed!
