I've just core-drilled and fitted a spare through-hull and been pleasantly surprised to discover the layup on my 'ansom transom is all of 13mm.

That seems rather better than average. What's the opinion of the congregation?

Hmmm a "spare" hole in the hull??????
You've misread the intent.

The 'ole is no longer spare. It now performs the function of an outlet for the second 'lecky bilge pump. 'Twas the Tru-Design 'ole stopper that was spare, until I pressed it into service with CT1 ( clear ).

I've been collecting, passively, shed-loads of spare this and thats over the years. I have a polytunnel and a loft stuffed wi' them. My few friends shake their heads in some mix of admiration and despair when they come to have a root around in the p'tent - and divest me of yet another halyard-length of doublebraid or an errant length of s'steel strapping.

And no, I can't really blame it on the resident family of magpies....
