To those who it concerns: I have changed my phone and lost all my numbers  - if we've previously been in telecommunication, please drop me a text or otherwise with your number. :o

My number hasn't changed!
It happens to me every sodding time I change my phone. Why oh why oh why can't I get with the 21st Century?

It should get easier as technology moves on.
Now, with an Android phone, I am told that, by synchronising with my gmail account, I can get a new phone and sync that one and all the contacts, calendar etc info come across - alledgedly
Proof of the pudding soon as I am about to get a new phone.....

Might be too late for Lisa, but some phones have an option in the menu to copy the contacts from the phone memory to the SIM, then from the SIM to the new phone.

Loads of phones have PC software available that allows you to keep a backup of your contacts and all of the phone settings on your PC, as well as synchronising the contacts list with Windows Address Book, which is (IMO) the better choice. That way, you have all your contacts on the phone and the PC. If you add or alter an entry on the phone or the PC you cant then synchronise them and keep both devices current.

Lisa, what was your old phone and where is it now ?

Thanks Paul. I actually thought I'd done that, but I don't think I had saved all the contacts to the same place, so that when I copied it over to the sim, not all of them went. I have some numbers, but not others. Weird = I have my dad's mobile, but not the landline. I have my landline, but not Marc's mobile, etc. Maddening.

The REAL nice thing about Android phones is that if/when you ever have to do a factory reset, Play Store has all the apps you had installed, and you just reinstall them without having to remember what you had... so long as you sign in with the same google account

Technomagician has already done that, it works superbly well

iPhone also backs up to your computer when you charge. Theoretically you never lose your phone book. Phone book also syncs to your computer & vice versa when not charging, so should all be the same.

Sorry. Boring apple-product-related post. Was a revelation for us as a family though. Threw away about half a dozen separate address books and on-phone directories.

Ahem, just to add that iPhones have been doing this auto back up and load to new phone since they were first launched. Another Apple lover post, sorry :o
