I walked the dog this morning and there he was; carrying and chucking stones as usual.

Except that the fruits of 16 years labour had completely disappeared. Gone, nowt there, nothing, nada, as if they had never existed.

I spoke to him and commiserated.

'Ah well' he said 'doesn't matter' - and carried on chucking rocks at the base of the cliff.

I walked away feeling humbled and wishing I had that sort of attitude to life!
 
+1. What a shame but it's probably his efforts over the years that saved the cliff last week. Hat off to him. Reminds me of Calum's road on Raasay.
