I came across an advert for my old Windy 8800. It was sad to say the least. The guy that bought it from me has basically wrecked it. You can read what he has done here - http://www.boatshop24.co.uk/advert/windy-8800-devon/40277264

I should have known; on the trial, he treated the boat very badly and when he took it away, he did the same. Now it sits in a farm, having had it's two V6 motors removed and third central hole cut into the transom for the single (unfinished) engine TX. So down from 410HP to 200HP. Surely that compromises the entire integrity of the hull (not to mention the performance!)?

And the camper canvas and tonneau were in great condition, I had them made specifically using Sunbrella for my boat - both now ruined. Electrics and switching in bad shape; cabin cushions missing? Where the hell did they go?? They were original as well :( I could go on.

Has anyone ever come across their old boat and wish they hadn't? (or conversly liked what the new owner has done?).

He wants £15K for it. Butchered as badly as it is, I would be reluctant to give him £5K and only because I feel compelled to rescue my old friend :(

My last boat is having the time of her life being pampered by Jurgen of this forum, and I love seeing the pictures of upgrades and hearing of her new adventures.
The one before that went to Hartlepool, is also looked after by an occasional forumite.
The one before that went to brixham, sent a few postcards then lost touch. I found her for sale in Cardiff last year and I looked in trpidation - but she had been treated to lots of new toys and well kept after I sold her.
I would hate to see one neglected like yours :(

Dave what a bummer
I know the effort that went into Her
What a nob head
Shje was perfectly balanced with those engines, now if it ever gets done it will be a snail
Like you say spoil the integrity
The Guy obviously didn't/doesn't what he has purchased
Folks I have seen Dave bash through the waves (fair lumpy) on His way into the Menai Strait
I can sympathise
My old Channel Island 22, which I rebuilt from stem to stern lies festering ashore in Bangor
Daft bloke is asking £19500 which he paid me for it in 2001
It aint moved for years and has been vandalised too!
I too am of a mind to offer 5K for Her and rebuild the poor Girl again
However Dave- you remember BRIZA my old Nimbus
Well, the New owner has done wonders for Her
She proudly plies the Strait quite often looking magnificent
I would like to by Her back too
But I had three boats once before
Doesn't work Nightmare!
Buy Her back Dave you know you want to;)
Cheers
K

Yes, horrible story. I cannot understand folk abusing their boats. All boats are a significant investment, and should be cherished as such. I would hate to find that Rafiki is suffering.

I was feeling the same about my old boat that looked to have been almost abandoned on the hard since I sold her with heavy oxidisation setting in. fortunately, it looks like the new owner paid to have her cleaned up a few weeks back and she's now back in the water doing what a boat is supposed to. felt strangely sorry for her when I'd pop my head in to the boatyard occasionally to say hello lols :)

Apologies for the Fred Drift, but I used one of your new phones today Gary. It, er, well, was just like using a phone. Fantastic! :)

Ahh yes Kwaka me ol' mate! I remember you meeting up with me in Caernarfon Bay that day. You just couldn't wait to transfer to my boat and get yer hands on the controls! And what fun we had. Did I ever tell you that my return journey from CB to Porthmadog (look it up folks) rounding Bardsey, only took 2 hours 50? Eh now! That's performance for you!

As Binman and others have said on here, I must not buy her back, even though I almost cries when I saw her :(

Well the sea was lovely and flat...except for the sound! The tide was racing out and I mean racing!! Those Welsh mists and Dragons were abroad that morning!
