Where is everyone else?

(just as a footnote to anyone thinking of entering/exiting Chichester Harbour today, there is quite a swell running, and some large and steep waves near West Pole - fun if you get it right with the four tonne surfboard. Bang crash oops if you get it wrong Should calm down a bit later.)

If my daughter didn't have her friends school party to attend I would have been out there today as well. Weather looks great.

We should be out tomorrow hopefully if the weather is decent.

I too went for a quick squirt this afternoon around the Western Solent. From my berth in Lymington over to Yarmouth then round to have a nose at that superyacht Ameryllis anchored just east of the harbour entrance. She was fabulous, I 'm not overly keen on those big ferry like moneybags things but she had beautiful classic lines.

Solent was flat calm, nice and sunny and barely another boat out there...missed opportunity for many. Blasted about at 25knots without even wearing a jacket and this is in November for christ's sake!

I'm gonna be down on the coast for the Christmas hols - am hoping there will be a nice day to get out - winter boating can be great, funny that you can often get more days of flat sea and blue sky than say in August when we had erm, exactly none..

Someone that owns a warm jacket, and has enough time to get from A to B at 5kts?

Would have loved to have been out in the new six tonne surfboard, but she doesn't go back in the drink until Thursday.....

But as of 5pm today she's all ready to rock and roll. So next weekend it will no doubt be cold, wet and windy.....

It might be someone who listens to ja make caan music wearing a multicoloured beanie hat also dreadlocks, and fond of gardening (burns a lot of weed)

Oui construit par les Français, Jeanneau, en fait, et 34'6" de temps pour être pédant.

Jeanneau Prestige 34 Sport Top, i.e. hard top with an electric roof, and KAD300s. Good for 38 knots.....

Had an afternoon walk on Studland today Sunday and disappointed by the lack of scenery hardly any boats out and no raggies but great to see Wareham Quay with 4 Sealine’s on Saturday probably up from Cobbs to see the Saturday market actually on the Quay, lovely atmosphere and worth a trip up through the harbour and river, but get the tides right if you come

We did a simple run round to Portsmouth, stayed over in Premier Gosport (who gave me several practise berths before one that was big enough).

Beautiful weather, Saturday was good at Swanwick and Sunday even better in Gosport...

The 3-decker was by Abeking & Rasmussen, called Amaryllis, well over 200ft, it took up all of the outer pontoon at Gunwharf.

We arrived at 9 at the Needles to find it shrouded in thick fog (we're raggies I'm afraid), then wondered over into Newtown for lunch and promptly ran aground as we left.

As did two other motor boats - although we had an excuse, we were trying to sail off the moorings.

But a gorgeous day in the Solent, lots of boats out after midday.

I was at Studland today for a couple of hours - only one other boat there although a few others did turn up they didn't even stay long enough to pick up a mooring buoy. With the wave action it was a little too uncomfortable to stay for lunch, although it was beautifully sunny and warm out of the wind. I had a blat down to Bournemouth, then ended up at Goathorn Point for lunch. The colour of the sea and sky had to be seen to be believed; unfortunately I didn't take a camera.

I was fortunate enough to have had last week off and we too had the Solent almost to our selves, in fact on our return from Lymington on Friday morning there was NO other pleasure boats to be seen at all, and it was flat calm and sunny.

The whole week has been excellent, if I get chance I might post some photos!
