The Shipwreck Inn Shotley

The Rose is presumably still run by Sarah who used to run the Shipwreck when it was excellent. She and the whole staff got the boot and it has seldom been the same since. At one time Sarah would come and pick people up from the marina and bring them back after eating at The Rose but Shotley banned her.

May try the lightship in SYH instead.......

Maybe come a little further up the river to Foxs Marina Yacht Club... good food and absolutely excellent beer these days...

Really? Sailorman never mentioned it  well, not today ;) yet :)

New ( well 14 months) caterers. Home produced food & good service ( unlike the previous lady ). The prices are slightly higher but a far far better menu & good portions.
Also Jon is a cocktail whiz with an extensive range of ingredients for producing what ever you req

A Suffolk Punch no doubt;)

Or a bit further up the coast and the nosh is great at the Harbour Inn, and by definition the best beer on the coast on any coast that is. But rather busy in season.

Shotley - best marina in the world but one of the worst marina restaurants ever
Foxs - no one would call it the best marina but one of the best clubhouses I've used
SYH - "good enough" in both departments
Woolverstone - enough said
RHYC - good clubhouse and eating but very limited marina

I wonder if there is a marina as good at Shotley; that has a clubhouse as good as Foxs; and has a restaurant as good as the lightship at Haslar marina - the best grub at a decent price we've ever had.

How the food in your club

Really? Is he ill?

Oh, I see he's alive after all. phew!

:D

It's like the standing orders for nuclear subs to launch an attack if the admiralty is silent and the pm programme on R4 isn't broadcast - a day without a plea from sailorman to try out the FMYC is unsettling. Must say he took his time on this thread.

I was a berth holder many moons ago but never succeeded as a visitor as we couldn't get hold of the HM on the VHF/phone

That's strange. I've never had a problem contacting them (usually by VHF), and they're there 24hrs every day (one of the good things about Shotley).

I could mention some other marinas nearby in that regard, but . . . .

I think Little Grebe was refering to Foxs. Shotley maintain a 24/7 watch on 16.
