Sailing Today has an article about chartering in Croatia.(Croatia Contrasts) I did almost the same trip earlier this year and it was as good as they say, but I didnt find the berting fees as high as they did.£120.00 one night? Anybody else sailed around Pula?

Keep it a secret!

Have not seen the article but I have cruised in Croatia, including around Pula, for the last 5 years. The normal Marina charge for a 10 Mtr. Yacht is €40 a night with water and electricity. On the Istra there are only a few good safe places to anchor. These can be found in a good pilot (I use the one by Trevor and Dinah Thompson). South of the Istra there are many small harbours and anchorages. Typically a small harbour with water and electricity will €15 to €20 but you will not have showers (possibly a loo in the local bar/cafe). If you pick up a buoy you can expect to pay €12 or so. All these prices are for April to June or September and October. You can expect to pay 50% more when the Italians arrive in July and August and finding a Marina mooring in these peak months can be difficult. Super area to sail in, Just watch out for the Bora !. a NE wind which can arrive with little warning and the wind goes from zero to 30-40 knots in a few minutes.
