The main is passable ......the gib is just passable .....but the Genoa needs some tlc .....and living in the North east of Scotland is great but short on supplies. Where can I get sail repairing gear. Cottons ect. Swimbo is happy to do the needful if we can find the the right bits.

Kayosruce or PointNorth are pretty good at all matters sailmaking. There are other suppliers of course, but I don't have them bookmarked. You'll need a fairly hefty zigzag sewing machine to do proper sail repairs going through several layers of cloth, but a reasonably beefy domestic machine with the right needle can do running repairs ok.

Thanks Seagreen I "Googled" my needs and was sent to a couple of USA sights that had a good slection of bits but will try Point North their site seems more user friendly.

Cottons!!!!!!!!! Use those and SWIMBO will be busy every Autumn with sails spread around the lounge...!!!!!!!

Any Yacht chandler sells the right thread and needles. You might need a palm but usually not and there are rolls of backing material available.

I have found suitable thread in John Lewis but it is very infrequent that they have it as you need a heavier gauge than for dressmaking /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

The chandlers at LArgs..Kip...Port Edgar all have supplies but I believe for you the best deals might come from.
