Farndon - Knots bar is on a converted ferryboat located on the marina - very good sunday lunch and more. Also in the village just upstream of the marina 'The Riverside' pub/restaurant. Fish and chip van at the post office on Fridays.
travelling upstream from Farndon...........
Fiskerton - The Bromley Arms (if you can find room on the pontoon, which is uklikley at a weekend , although there was a space today )
Hazelford - nice barbeque spot
Gunthorpe - lots of eating choices - like the Bondai (Italian). Gunthorpe very busy on Sundays and bank hols.
Stoke Lock - peaceful spot - moorings upstream , don't moor at the pub just downstream (underwater rocks reported).
Holme Lock - nice breakfast in the watersports centre - moorings upstream, watch for underwater shelf at part of the wall moorings ,which is marked.
Downstream from Farndon
Newark - moorings opposite the castle - lots off restaurants, pubs , cafes , some nice independant little shops, nice market town.
Muskham Inn - riverside pub
Cromwell lock barbeque spot
Strong flow on the non tidal Trent today - about 4.5 knots.
Agree with most of these and there is also the Trent moorings at Nottingham. Although if your boat size permits I prefer the Nottingham canal moorings outside Sainsbury's. Another great spot but you need a boat with a low air draft (7ft ish)
