The River Ore Today

I am planning on making a video of all the east coast rivers both at high and low water. Could be useful to visiting boats. I will upload them to a youtube channel. Might take a little while though

FYI - You need a license from Natural England to fly your drone over the Ore and the Deben or in fact any other designated SSSI

Scroll down to the Natural England section

Lots more of the same easily found with google...

Thanks but I don't think I will bother. Far to many do gooders in the world trying to stop innocent people from doing things that are doing no harm. Before long there will be so many stupid rules that people natural to these shores (surely part of Natural England) wont be able to fart for fear of it gassing a sodding newt. I have lived in the country all my life so consider myself natural to this land

Natural England has been restructured several times in the last few years. Each time their manpower has been slashed. Our local site officer was once in charge of southern Essex & Hertfordshire based at Colchester. That office is now closed but his area has expanded to cover all of Essex, Suffolk & Norfolk plus a big chunk of Cambridgeshire. In short they can barely administer anything any more. All documentation is held at a central depository that takes approx 3 months to access anything once a request goes in. I think the likelhood of any NE person asking to see your drone licence is vanishingly small. I wouldnt worry about it.

Also Natural England are incorrect. They do not own airspace and flying in airspace is administered by the CAA. If you watch this video just after 2 mins in all will be explained.

It would appear that Natural England are giving incorrect information

I figured I'd look into this for you given.. mainly because your alias "Bigplumbs" amuses me and that you sent me that rather odd and irrelevant personal message this morning.

So, (in part) you are right. The CAA do manage the airspace. However they are not responsible for regulating the environmental impacts of aviation. They outsource that stuff to an assortment of stakeholders including Natural England.

It describes it very clearly on this CAA webpage - https://www.caa.co.uk/Consumers/Environment/Environmental-stakeholders/UK-Government/

Many thanks but no need to research this for me. I know what can and cant be done. Regarding wildlife. The sort of flying I do with my drone would not cause any issues with any wildlife. If I do and if I am confronted by anyone who has any real authority in this matter I will deal with that if and when it happens.

Further I do not feel that flying a 400g electric drone at about 60-70m high over a river has too much of a devastating environmental impact.

I am afraid I do not live my life worrying about the multitude of rules that sadly plague this country, particularly if I am doing nothing that harms anyone or anything. (Which I am sure you will have an opinion on). I would sincerely hope that the people that have power to enforce the sort of things we are talking about have more important and indeed pressing matters to deal with. They have stretched resources so I hope things such as People trafficking, County lines, Drugs, Illegal immigration, Murder, Theft, etc etc are rather higher on their agenda.

You have sought to give me some advice so in return I might advise you to perhaps worry less about things that actually aren't that important in the grand scheme of things. What do you think ?

"What do you think ?"

I think your ability to justify what you want to do because you want to do it with no regard for the law or process speaks volumes. Between this thread and your go fast rib thread you’ve demonstrated you’re an individual who just doesn’t like to play by the rules and that’s ok..I guess you just need to accept any consequences that might arrive as a result of your cavalier attitude..

Go steady

Go steady

The thread regarding the fast rib was on the designated part of the river for speedboats...... So that was indeed playing by the rules..... Once again you have got the rules wrong

You should also be aware that many speed limits are removed at certain times of the year

Your interpretation of the law and indeed rules regarding flying drones was incorrect so you added some spurious nonsense about environmental impact rather than simply accept you are wrong.

Perhaps you should spout less to others and look in the mirror and ask yourself what you do that might be against the rules before you climb up on your high horse with a holier-than-thou attitude. People on High Horses almost always fall off at some point.

What did you think about the beauty of the River Ore as shown in my harmless video

No point in arguing the toss with people in this thread or the other one - been down this route myself, years ago!

As a yottie/ribber/dinghy sailor/drone flyer I shall continue to enjoy the surrounding rivers.

Many thanks I will do so as well and do my best not to annoy people or wildlife
