I'm ecstatic to see that the definitive item of footware for the well dressed yachtsman has returned...the yellow wellie.

All we need now are polar fleece jackets by Peter Storm or Javelin, and we're set.

Very useful safety aid. When you fall over the side head first without a lifejacket it is very easy to spot the yellow wellies against the blue/green (or brown) of the sea even when he rest of you is under water.

Let's all embrace the 1970's again and buy yellow wellies!

But first you will need to grow a moustache, chunky side burns and find some Musto retro flares....

Dubarry....so last year!

One very good thing; they look like a development of the Musto M1 wellies, which are the best I've tried by a long way.

If I really have to I suppose I'd put up with yellow, but the ribbing would be merciless and even I wouldn't walk down Cowes High Street in them !

- Musto, please keep the dark blue M1's going, for **** sake...

My ex crew (Spanish) said the Brits were odd as the only time she got chatted up was when she had yellow wellies?

God, no! This is retro too far. Best to leave the yellow wells and 'jaggy collar at the zip top' Javlin behind in the 1970s, please.
