The Refit of a Delta 88 Carbon Sport Yacht/Superyacht

Because the old interior didnt match todays bang up to date trends
Probably still cheaper than buying a new one
Mmm... Call me cynic if you want, but I smell some build quality problems, to start with.
Let's leave aside IPS refurbishing - they are the work of evil as we all know, and Delta's only fault is to have chosen them. BUT...
Interior sole boards needing to be stripped to bare wood and recoated?
Polishing of Corian surfaces?
Generator exhaust systems requiring modifications?
Topsides needing a fresh coat of paint?
U gotta be kidding me... :ambivalence:

Fine I get it, the build may not be up to the best ( but can't confirm), but its only money surely?? If he/she wants a refitted boat what's the problem? Sure it may have lasted longer, but it's fashionable boat maybe, and due for a makeover? But who cares? if its a million or so..... it doesnt matter, well done to him/her who can afford it and paying guys at Berthon. Bravo!

Hmm it is strange. Looks like hull #1. Definitely not #2 because that has a s/steel stem covering strip gunwhale to w'line, and #3 is <5 yrs old.

The stated list of jobs is pretty lightweight apart from hull paint.

It would be nice if they extended the flybridge, which is well within berthon capability. It was the "40 footer flybridge" that made me lose interest in this boat for Med use. (Plus they are around €5m new when you can have a ferretti 920 for €6m).

Geez, really? Chalk and cheese springs to mind.
Even if I must say that in a boat so big and expensive they could have refrained from using the old trick of bulwarks reversed and integrated with the deck mould…

Let's leave aside IPS refurbishing - :

This ones been parked right opposite our favourite cafe in Cannes since about July .I think it’s sold now irrc asking either 3.6 M or 2.6 M sorry can’t remember which currency think € ? It’s details were in the brokers window next door .
So I’ve spent many an hour or two qwarping at it .Never saw any crew attending to it .

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=SRNaKOwzpvc

There’s was just something odd I can’t put my finger on about it , layout looks un Med friendly , attention to detail re quality equipment looked thin compared to the neighbors boats .You know cleats ,hand rails ,the teak steps etc etc .
I can’t remember what was either side but they shamed the 88 quality wise .
Bit like parking a Citroen between a Merc and BMW at 10 ft you don,t need an ownership experience to sense which ones not quite as good as the others quality wise .
It’s was the build final finish , did not tally with the asking price I understand they are made in Poland fwiw? .

I’ve said this before on here re IPS service but was ridiculed at the time .From an observational viewpoint-in the yard I use ( VP agents ) they regularly remove the pods and take them into the engine shed for strip down then refit with a new rubber skirt .Its like a giant bellows .I think it’s supposed to be changed every 5 years anyhow so that chimes in with me the Berthon job .
The advocates on here suggest they just need the usual reg oil changes to the pod and that’s all on top of regular maintenance.Thats not what I see .

My mates had a €20 k pod off job on his IPS SUNY Porto 48 last season and lost time with electrotwackerey gremlins this season .
I think you have to be brave to run 3 outside warranties. But even if you had a sufficiently large war chest for this kinda stuff it the inconvenience that I couldn’t risk .
Last season we entertained 8 seperate sets of guests .With folks arranging there free time / flights etc the boat needed to be turnkey - and it was :)You can’t invite folks to sit on a broken boat ,

L, which cafe in Cannes is your favourite? We quite like Cannes and enjoyed our stay there this year. Always keen to try things off our personal beaten path.

Wasn't it hull #1 where the guy insisted the boat be rebadged as a Delta 88 even though it was actually a Delta 80 (and subsequent instances stuck to the '80' label)?

A friend of mine purchased a 2 year old Sunseeker 86. It was in astonishingly bad condition. The boat had been kept in Northern Europe, never cleaned, never lifted or serviced, all upholstery had been left in situ without covers through 2 winters. It was amazing how bad the boat looked. No idea why but clearly something had changed with the owners circumstances from day one, after two years he wanted a quick sale and understandably the boat was heavily discounted.

Most of the work was cosmetic, plus some upgrades but most importantly the decision was taken give engines and systems a thorough overall and to replace anything that had the slightest sniff of neglect. Suffice to say the boat now looks like new and was obtained at a significant discount even post work.

I'm not saying this is the case here, but it's equally a likely probability as some of the jump to conclusions being made above, given none of us know the real story.

lol, well starting to think I might just keep forever...would be ideal in Yarmouth when I move there and I reckon a Cummins QSB 425hp would fit when the time comes....

Yep, agree, move to West Wight and Tulana is all you'll need to get to 'trose in Lymington.

There's a QSB220 rating that would be nice, but you'll never wear out the Perkins.
