The Queens Do..........

As the skipper of a boat that has been invited, I can answer some questions, but only from the information I have. On the rehearsal paperwork it was stated (from memory so not quotable) participants would be looked on favorably but no guarantee of place in pageant.
The only body I am a member of is my local boat club, affiliated to the ATYC but we have virtually no contact and don't take part in any of their activities. The only other thing is my boat is registered on the small ships register. Final point with my situation is the boat is small so will fit under the lower arch of the bridges for traveling 3/4 abreast. I have no idea what the selection criteria was at all. I also had an email from the rehearsal organiser saying he was sending the same email to all the people on the rehearsal list because it is his only list and he has not been made aware of the boats selected and was not part of the selection process. I his email there was some mention of VIP's etc.
As an invited participant that is as much information as I have, some of that is assumptions.

To respond to your question, yes it was made very clear that attending the rehearsel was not going to assure you a berth on the actual day !
I did it from emsworth on the south coast knowing full well that i might have to kiss goodbye to the thick end of 2.k....luckily i made in so all's well in my world apart from having to find another 2.k this year [/QUOTE]

Good Luck and have a great day.
Will be watching from somewhere on the river bank, not to sure wether from the "rejected losers" :) special detention compound or from St Scats where a number of ...Ahem...... gentlemen boaters and their lady wives will be lurking aboard assorted gin palaces* .
