The Quarters Spit Cardinal buoy in West Mersea is off station. It has dragged or been dragged or been lifted by a big tide and taken (perhaps as much as 50/70 yds) itself directly over the spit it is supposed to guard. Not to be used as a marker for cutting the corner between West Mersea and Tollesbury or as the starboard hand marker for Tollesbury for the time being!
