The Orwell Bridge close to high sided vehicles

I'm sure that I heard this on Look East yesterday.
"And in Cambridgeshire the Orwell Bridge is closed!"

That's because 'Look Norwich' (and 'About Norwich' on ITV) are from, yep, you've guessed it, Norwich - and they don't seem to understand anything outside their immediate area. Either that or it was a slip of the webbed finger on the autocue....:o

All you lucky chaps had electricity available. Our lights went out at 1524 on Monday, and did not come back on until 2257 last night.

A large tree was blown down just up the road and took out power lines and a pole. SWMBO was a bit worried about the contents of fridges and the freezer, but fortunately Xmas dinner was in Enfield not here, so we spent 2 evenings by candlelight and cooking - sort of - on a single gas burner. We gave in and went down to the Butt last night. Annoyingly all the houses down at Pin Mill itself were fine, just those of us in the lane cut off. The tree is still there blocking Hollow lane, don't know when that will be roomed.

Fortunately we have an open fire in the sitting room, so we weren't cold.

Another one.!!! I think the school should fell all those tress that are within range. Is the owner of a tree - i.e. on his land - liable for any damage if it s blown down? Also does he have to pay for the cost of removal and making good?

Almost certainly down for the removal costs but I am less sure about any consequential damage.

Do we really want all those trees felled? I suspect the place will be a lot less pleasant/sheltered without them

I was really only kidding, although maybe some of the taller ones close to the boundary should be checked in view of what has happened so far this winter.

I see another substantial tree has fallen into the RH car park. The owner of the (empty) cradle it landed on might be feeling fortunate that his or her boat wasn't there at the time.

I have had a look today, I am afraid it is a great deal worse than an empty cradle. It has landed directly on the Cradle Carrier which is used to transport the cradles with boats up the hard and around the car park. It will be impossible to recover any more yachts until it is repaired I would think, at a cursory glance the damage looks extensive, broken welds, bent chassis members and possibly wrecked hydraulics.
