Some may remember the saga, from twelve months ago. Where PYH owed me money for renting my berth, but I owed them, just a little bit for extortionate electric charges. I reckoned they could just send me a cheque for the difference.

Result was, they finally sent the cheque, less the electric bill and £15 fine for not paying the electric bill and £25 for not returning the key fob, which I did not know they wanted.

Twelve months on. I got another letter this week threatening another £15 for the key fob.

Thats after being a customer, everything paid on the dot for about 15 years. So maybe 50 grand??

The fobs on the boat. If they want it that bad.

Shame each marina did not have a members club with a appointed panel where people could air there problems like this, if found to be a fair complaint then the members back the panels recomendations after talking to the management to try and resolve the issue.
Power to the people. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

They're called bertholders associations and if properly ie democratically, established can affiliate to the RYA and receive all their legal advice and backup.

Not surprisingly marinas and their managers fight tooth and nail to resist their creation!

Yep, well before you owe money, they are after it. Yet if they owe you, it's a different story.

Yep I've read the contracts, but would they stand up in court. Not sure and hardly worth arguing over 15 or 25 quid. The satisfaction of making folk aware of malpractice is worth 15 quid.

Yes my new marina at Conwy has one of these. Keep thinking of joining, it's only a tenner.

With your track record that makes sense!

re Plymouth; have you written to the MD of YachtHaven Group in Lymington putting your case or are you just having a one-sided rant at our expense?

Lucky anyone's watching . . . .

Sub leasing income should be paid to you within 7 days of receipt, and visa versa with accounts received by you from them.
Everything should run sweetly. Unfortunately in reality, they may not have received the sub-lease payment, and could quite realistically been chasing it for months, berth holder doesn't get paid, then it goes pear shaped.

Like any business, some marinas are run better than others, and people will vote with their boats.
I think things must be pretty bad if you need to form a committee to help the marina run smoothly, clearly must have unapproachable management.
I go boating with my clients! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
