Only real criticism from Ipad users some who do use their Ipad for serious long distance cruising, is that the units get very hot and it should not be left in the sun on the flybridge for extended periods.

What about sunlight visibility, waterproofness, using with wet hands etc etc?

Def no better than my normal plotter (RL 80 CRC) in bright sun, Ipad usually used inside saloon or up on the fly, both hopefully well out of harms way regards salt water.
Wether it would survive a good soaking is debateable, couple of folks have got a plastic bag affair to protect their units.
Nobody has mentioned wether wet fingers on the touchscreen causes problems.

My C120 is absolutely useless in sunlight, probably not helped by the fact the previous owner badly scratched the coating. As for waterproofness the iPad is in a sealed cover so probably better than the C120 given its age.
Wet hands? Well, I own a Broom so I can dry them on the net curtains

A Broom owner with sense of humour...some mistake surely.
.The Raymarine is also a pig in bright sunlight and unlike the Ipad, you cannot pop it into the shade to view and as for constantly putting tilting head on one side to see the display on the chart plotter when wearing ones polarised Raybans.
