The nicest speeboat video I've seen lately

Our new Nortech 39 arrived last week and that has 2 x 1250hp and will top 140knots.
Wow, that must be a sweet ride. What kind of blocks?
1250 hp doesn't sound as a Mercury number. They make either a 1200 SC or a 1300 turbo, as I recall.
And does it spin #6 outdrives, Arnesons, or what?

Seat belts, helmets, life jackets etc. aren't going to make any difference if you were to flip at vmax, although a lifejacket might act as an indication of where to start searching for the other pieces.
ROTFL, good one.
I'm not saying you're wrong, but I still would rather use a life jacket and a helmet.
There's always the hope that if the worse must happen, it could well be while turning at 50kts or so....
I'd rather avoid seat belts though, unless in a real race boat with canopy.

thanks for the offer, Spannerman, but I'll stick to my memories of driving a boat with three gas turbines, and a measly 10,000 shaft HP.

But then we were able to make smoke at 50 knots, as well ;)

If by rotary engined you mean gas turbine then that has to be the ultimate, just the sound alone gives you goosebumps.

the wankel engine found in the mazda rx7/rx8 car's.
they will rev allday at 9000rpm,and they are very light weight
seam to do the job pritty well...

the guy on youtube say's they are trying to stop him racing it..
seem's to have got the v8 boy's scared!!

I bet you enjoyed it though Major :) moving fast on water is a good buzz.

It was great fun Callum. I did some high speed figure of eights and found that there was no wash to cross at all.

So, when passing raggies in a fast speed boat do them a favour and don't slow down.

But they still shake their fists.

Mapis, thanks for posting, truly impressive. I have been 70knts+ in a boat... this was far far faster, I would say...circa 100 / 110 knots. The driver looks like he's on a Sunday afternoon cruise.....and if you crash, you die.. I used to have an old sports car that I competed where the outcome of a big accident would have been the same... sometimes life is more exciting when you experience these antics first-hand.

Sorry typo, they are 1075hp on #6 drives with 6 blader surface props which are so sharp you must wear gloves when handling them!

Aha, I see. They're the biggest SC engines coming with a factory warranty, IIRC. Not CE compliant, though.
Is the boat going to be used only for races, or do you count on police not having boats fast enough to catch up...? :D

PS: yeah, those cleaver props are real masterpieces, but not the safest thing to handle. Not to mention swimming around them!

We use it in Poker runs as the pace boat and we do trips with it for those who can afford £1500 ph plus VAT!
Also it goes on day charters when we rent out our Princess 95 to rich russians who want to go faster than 24 knts.

The police are no problem as guess who leases them their shiny new Minor 34, and loans them a Hydolift C31 complete with lights and stripes for a couple of busy weekends in summer like the Tall Ships Race etc, we do!

Strange in the Nortech vid that at 2:00 and 2:48 its running with the air intake covers in, as on all 3 of our Nortechs they have to be removed so the engine can breathe and a turbine needs to breathe even more!!!

Wow, I'm really impressed. A non-CE boat, and used for charter too!
Not to mention the reasons why you don't need to worry about it....
...you're not actually based in Greece, are you?
Btw, I guess you can also avoid wasting money in insurance, because you'd never get a refund in case of an accident anyhow! :D
