So, you have a big nice open boat with arneson drives, capable of 40+ kts, and you think to have experienced speed on the water?
Think again. Now, this is ludicrous! :eek::eek::eek:

Nice to see that in what is essentially a supercharged V8 canoe doing probably close on 80mph that the yanks feel safe enough to not need a life jacket! :eek:

That said i'd love a spin!
 
Precisely my first thought when I saw the video. Not to mention helmets, which I'd rate as necessary as life jackets.
Also because I read elsewhere that this 21 footer has 1300hp, pushing her at 100+ mph.
In fact, even if it's difficult to tell exactly, definitely the kind of max speed in the video is WELL above the eighties!

PS: I'd love a spin too, anyway!:D
 
Seat belts, helmets, life jackets etc. aren't going to make any difference if you were to flip at vmax, although a lifejacket might act as an indication of where to start searching for the other pieces.
 
hmmm, less than a second away from densely populated areas in parts of the ride, and did anyone else notice the loose blue fender towards the end of the clip, sliding about just by his foot ? And missing that other power boat by 25 yards - on purpose ?

Trusting one system 100% is not a sensible option on a missile like that.

Worth about 5 years hard labour on a charge of gross idiocy, I reckon.

Love the way the the passenger's 'T' shirt turns into a bikini top half way through ... perhaps I ended the counceling sessions a little early?
 
I can strongly recommend it if you like speed, our Nortech 36 with 2 x 850hp supercharged V8's was good for 120 knots and the fjords get very small at those speeds as you can't haul it round in a tight turn or the inner hull will dig in and flip you round in a split second so you have to slow before you start a turn, also you have to look a long way ahead for rogue waves or wash as at that speed its essentially flying on the air compressed between the hulls and you play the trim buttons to control the speed, if you get the bow too high it can backflip, so driving over 80 knots into strong headwinds or 1m waves is a definite no-no, as even though it weighs 5 tons it will take off.
Lowering the drives can pull 40 kts off the speed, conversely its amazing feeling to be doing 80 knots with full throttle and then you just trim out and feel the extra 40 knots punch you back in your seat as the hulls lift and the air tunnel starts to work, it gets very smooth but you know you are balanced on a few feet of hull and only half of the surface piercing prop blades are in the water.
Then in the mirrors you see the twin rooster tails leaping up for 100ft behind you,
its more like flying very low than boating.
You always have to be well ahead of the boat and plan your turns while watching out for crab pots and debris. At the same time try and keep an eye on the vital seawater pressure and oil temp/presure and air temp after the intercooler, it has 3 seawater pumps per motor to cool everything but if you run it with too high charge air temp it will burn the pistons, and if it goes airborn which is easily done the impellors will self destruct after a few hops with no seawater being fed to them.
Our new Nortech 39 arrived last week and that has 2 x 1075hp and will top 140knots.
Its available for speed freal trips at £1500 ph for 4 pass, form an orderly queue behind Sarabande !!!
Seriously though 40 knots is just chugging around these days over here, the big boys club starts at 60 knots.
