Just had a look at the online registration on part III (SSR) of the new UK Ships Register. It looks user friendly and looks like it should work ok. .......... Ofcom take note!

A pity a UK government department does not use the correct terms for nationality. If you are a Brit is your nationality United Kingdom?
When questioned on the issue the reply was "the British accept United Kingdom" no apology or suggestion that it might be changed.

I used it last week...seemed simple enough -mind you I haven't received any documents back yet.
BTW does anybody feel stongly enough to tell me a good reason why I should have gone for the full registration rather than the SSR?

I have just tried to use it to re-register my boat, due to expire soon. Won't let me do it. Most of the drop field don't work and the associated help info doesn't relate. andthe inbuilt Enquiry option times out before delivery.
This may be progress but not as we know it.
