For Solent sailors the New Inn at Shalfleet is open and now serving food of quality well presented They have a very good chef.
Check your tide tables and take a torch if you go for an evening meal.
Island folk please support them through the winter season.
They deserve our support.

Oh good will definitely go in the next few weeks. Newtown Creek has been so packed in this summer I should be able to walk ashore.

I have just this minute returned from the new inn - we're in Newtown Creek and rowed up there.

A very nice meal with excellent service. The owner (I assume) was exceptionally friendly.

We are definitely going back if only to sample the fish pie, which was well reviewed by customers.

The only real ale on was Doom Bar Amber, not normally my favourite, but very well kept & served.

Certainly one to support.

It's good that the New Inn is doing well. One thing that puts me off is that they only have doom bar. To many pubs only have doom bar and I'm fed up with the stuff. The IOW did have a few brewery's but may be they have gone ?

As soon as I read they were reopening, I emailed them to confirm this and said I would let the boating community know, here and on FB. Never got a reply.

When I’m next on the south isle might venture by car -I guess tables have to be booked in advance for food . Hopefully they will soon be stocking some island brew. For those who don’t know island breweries still thrive and bottled versions to take home in Tesco. If visiting Bembridge for example the pilot boat pub is a micro brewery opposite the Bembridge club(take the water taxi from marina to beach) is a good choice.

I was in Newtown the other night. Tides good for an early evening visit by dinghy and a good few did.

Something I noticed about the dinghies though, was that over 50% were using electric outboards. The sales have shot up over the last year.

They’re made for anchorages like Newtown. They don’t disturb the seals or the birdlife. And at Newtown speeds, the battery lasts an age.

New Inn was open today. Had a pint of Yachtsman ale from an IOW brewery. Also had doombar ! Doombar, according to the landlady is the best seller. They do specials (food) and today's lamb duo , etc looked good. Tempted to buy it but I had had a large breakfast and food on board
They are on faceache but I struggle to find posts even though I have 'liked' the posters.

They had Timothy Taylors on in addition to Doom Bar last night. Very well kept. Talking about IOW brewery's, I see that the Powder Monkey brewery in Gosport (well worth a visit if you are in the area) have just acquired Goddards brewery so we may see a little more of Goddards around in the future.
Highly recommend the New Inn, not the cheapest but great quality.

we went there a couple of weeks ago. Very impressed, the food was top quality and the staff very polite and helpful. They deserve to get support so pop in if your're in Newtown its definitley worth dinghy ride!
