The new Bradwell wind farm.

I'm with Full Circle, I think that windfarms are a total waste of our hard-earned money - and that is ignoring the issue that
much of the cash leaves Britain.

I'm curious......(no not like that!!!!)....
I'm far from an eco warrior (in fact, the total opposite!!). Why are people so against wind farms? isn't it energy for nothing (well apart from installation cost). Being an engineer I obviously appreciate the fact that their energy can not not be stored, and if it isn't blowing they don't generate! But when it is blowing isn't this clean energy??

Please educate me!

Cheers Ian

Braver man than me. I share your views but didn't dare share them given the apparent vast majority against wind farms.

Think of all that wasted energy in manufacture, transportation & planting them, not to mention all those windcats & hotel ships

Cheers Sailorman, all good points - but isn't that the same for power stations? i.e still costs lots to build them, people still have to run them.... and stay in hotels and so on....

What are the thoughts of the parish on solar energy farms?

Ian

No problem here with any source that isn't an eye sore and doesn't get paid for out of the public purse in the name of going green, if people want solar on the roof they pay and get the benefit, wind power on the other hand isn't a reliable source which is what we need. Afraid I think the green agenda has been pushed too far

Oh wow.... the clacton airshow would be a bit special!!

Imagine it as a joint services show with the Army blasting away with tanks and artillery, the RAF using missiles and the Navy taking out the ones off the coast with torpedo's, now even I'd pay to watch that :encouragement:

Whether they are an eyesore or not, is a matter of opinion - Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. The 10 windmills in Bradwell are right in front of my house, and I am pretty sure I will be able to see the 9 new ones, and I have no problem with that

I think I'm with you David! :encouragement:
However, seeing the vulcan bombing the **** out of them would be flippin brill!! :)

I'm not sure the view would be quite as appealing if this started happening to them all, but everyone is entitled to an opinion, even when it's wrong ;)

Bring on the vulcan I say :encouragement:
