Thank you to all those who took the trouble to try and identify an anchor type for me. The question was finally answered by Andy Wilson. It is a STOCKLESS anchor. Surprising name as it clearly has a thundering great stock. All I need to do now is find one.

There's a surplus place in mid devon (Just north of Exeter) that had dozens of anchors when I was last there - including stockless ones.

What you are calling the STOCK is more correctly referred to as the SHANK, which is why it is called a stockless anchor.
