The most ridiculous boats (NOT Ecocat)???

Re: come on then - what size tank at the moment, what mpg?

Exactly, wonder what other records there are one could have a crack at, is'nt there one from Needles to CI and back or something.

In fact what is the most prestigious record (apart from trans atlantic) is there a med one Monte Carlo to somewhere?

Re: come on then - what size tank at the moment, what mpg?

Wight to Plymouth?

Or just razz past the House of Commons at full chat, trying to get the roostertail onto the balcony? PLA might get snotty about that but heck, how do they catch you except by raising the Barrier.
:-)

Re: come on then - what size tank at the moment, what mpg?

which takes us neatly back to how this all started. Col was telling the story of an article he'd read about a guy calling a mate on phone and saying the city freeway is clogged with traffic, but I'm doing 150mph....on the river!

Re: come on then - what size tank at the moment, what mpg?

150MPH, is that all - my car does that in 5 heartbeats!!

I'll tell you what, you arrange a boat to do the round Britain, I'll get me car sorted out properly and we'll have a full on race around Britain - It'll take you 30 hours, it'll take me I reckon, if we did the same miles, about the same. Could make for an awesome finish, think of the press coverage - I can see it now "boat thrashed to the finish by a 306" - Love it!!

Re: come on then - what size tank at the moment, what mpg?

"150MPH, is that all"

AS a matter of interest, what is the fastest you've been on a boat?

Re: come on then - what size tank at the moment, what mpg?

hum, average is about 65 mph including stops. I don't think a 306 can manage that, least not on uk roads and you having licence at the end of it...

Re: come on then - what size tank at the moment, what mpg?

I averaged 111mph from Cheltenham to Salisbury, don't tell me a 306 can't manage it.

She's not a standard car, by any stretch of imagination. 16V DOHC Mitsubishi engine, with a turbo, cat bypass, air induction, the list goes on and on

She was last tested on a rolling road and was 440bhp at the wheels

All I would need is a credit card and some red bull. Or I'll use my normal 306 and still beat ya!!

Re: come on then - what size tank at the moment, what mpg?

Each to their own!

No, but I'll take some tonight, I haven't done anything to the body work - Gives peeps a hell of a surprise, especially the Astons, TVR's etc...

Nothing wrong with doing that sort of speed, early hours of the morning, no children playing on the dual carriageways, are there?

Re: come on then - what size tank at the moment, what mpg?

quite right. Also, the faster you go the less risk of an accident with another car, as you're on the road for a far shorter period of time.

Re: come on then - what size tank at the moment, what mpg?

Hmmmm, lets see. Good at making money, but drives an old Peugeot (a tarted up one, which means you're into cars and can't use the "I'm not really a car man" excuse)...

Oh yes, and a good salesman is ALWAYS busy. Only order-takers have quiet days /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Re: come on then - what size tank at the moment, what mpg?

Fair enough,

I'll be content with quietly knowing that you obviously doesn't appreciate the impact of events such as tyre failure or road debris at that kind of speed...

If I'm ever out early in my car, I hope its in a different place to you if thats OK....

If you want to drive at those speeds, go do track days, and leave that kind of speed for those places alone....

PS, before you get all superior about driving skills and all that, I raced cars for several years, including some with power to weight ratios well in excess of what you have described.... and have seen the nasty effects of blow outs at just 100mph.... at 111mph or above, a major tyre failure has a very good chance of being lethal, sadly not only to the car driver, but also potentially other cars around....

PPS.... Aston drivers don't often go very quickly..... they don't need to....

Re: come on then - what size tank at the moment, what mpg?

Look, there was obviously some kind of forum punch-up at the weekend, and I bloody missed it, is it any wonder I'm crotchety...

Re: come on then - what size tank at the moment, what mpg?

Actually the orders i deal with are larger than itty bitty little ones, its just I've been planning today, for a trip to Wales tommorrow

I'm glad you were a race driver - thats really impressive, wow.

I go to as many track days as I can, I race only when the roads are quiet - IMHO I am a good driver, I look ahead far further than I need to, my tyres are filled with anti-blowout gunky stuff and I have lights that could put a football pitch to shame. I have had two crashes, both at low speed, one on a motorbike and the other in a car - both with slow drivers in bloody volvos

Re: come on then - what size tank at the moment, what mpg?

I guess I'll never convince you that you are being daft....

Sadly, I new you'd come back with an "i'm a good driver" pitch...

Also,

[/ QUOTE ]No, not wow... actually ouch.... it hurts when you crash at speed..... and thats into tyres walls, not concrete barriers or other cars head on... and with a decent harness, not a 3 point... or one of those 4 points that pretend to be proper harnesses, but actually don't have strong enough mounting points....

The anti-blowout stuff is as much use as a chocolate teapot when the tread strips... which is what tends to happen when the tyre is being pushed.... often the tread flails off and takes out vital stuff like the track rod ends at the same time.....

Your call.... as I said, I'm not anti fast driving, in fact I enjoy it... but believe in a time and a place.... and it aint the public road at that kind of speed..... all IMHO of course...

Re: come on then - what size tank at the moment, what mpg?

Ever thought the Volvo driver was deliberately trying to take you out?.

All Volvo drivers have to pass a special test that teaches them to spot lunatics and then take them out, all Home Office approved.

Re: come on then - what size tank at the moment, what mpg?

More like take a test on how to be an ar$ehole - yes its me, forgot my password as dacostalot, had to use emergency acct.

I drive as fast as the car in front, when it moves over i catch up to the next one
