Don't worry, only leg pulling - after all, I actually like Bosnia Targas, which are a classic case of function over design. I like boats that go places, rather than look nice, but there are some extremely nice designs out there as well. I'm rather taken by the Hunton range, not the most room, but go everywhere at speed even in rough stuff.

Battleship.sized.jpg

Preliminary Details: awaiting confirmation by owner. This American designed battleship exudes solidity yet her low profile superstructure gives her elegance. Built in 1944, she was thoroughly overhauled in 1952. Her impressive list of quality equipment will make her a comfortable cruising platform and easily handled by two (thousand) crew. She is ready to go and is an opportunity to acquire a true “classic”.

Well said, ari. I cannot understand why designers do not put more forward facing seats in their boats. It makes you wonder if they ever go to sea in them. I also dont understand how you're supposed to board many boats I see these days. The side decks are at chest height - why cant a small step be incorporated in the topsides. Another difference you see these days is a dangerously sloping or curved foredeck compared to the flat foredecks of older boats. How are you supposed to walk around on the foredeck at sea? And you're right about chart tables. Does nobody buy paper charts any more?

See, now there's a classic example for our Retro Boat Company, the Fairline 21 Sprint.

Proper solid Fairline construction, feels exactly like a baby 33 Targa of the same era, right down to having the same double helm seat (although just the one, not two like the 33 had). Big U shaped seating area at the back, nice light airy cabin cos of the forward facing windscreen.

We need to find a way of making the mid cabin a little less "cosy" mind...

Stick a single D3 in it and it'd be magic! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
