Just seen it will be on BBC2 at 2030 tonight, for those that haven't seen it before. For those that don't know what it's about, it's the story of Donald Crowhurst.

Maybe, but how often would he change his username?
Only once, if he's anything like DaGringoOnStingo.

My excuse is that I flounced, but missed the regulars (even the likes of you), but couldn't get Stingo back as my username. Hey Ho!

He was in another place, well before he MOB'd. The combination of mental illness and the adventurous romance of the race appears, superficially, to be of interest but I'm not sure what take-away psychological lesson present-day skippers can glean from the poor chap's misfortunes?
(Can't help wondering what anchor he was using..)

Somehow making a program (and getting s wadge of wonga) about the misery of mental breakdown leading to suicide seems very distasteful. I wonder how the production crew would feel if a member of their family killed themselves then someone makes a film about it.

I know what you mean, I get it, but... that's showbusiness! Expecting taste and decency from the movie industry is a forlorn hope.

Indeed, I well remember when Titanic won almost everything at the Oscars... The producer finished his acceptance interview saying...... Lets party.

2000 dead people, all of them innocent, none deserving to die and you are having fun at their deaths.
