Well here we are back in Lowestoft. Should have been in Blakeney or even further North but the weather gods had other ideas

We've had several hours of fantastic sailing. Trouble is they've been mixed up a lot more hours of absolutely horrible conditions

Four days into the trip with ten days to go and I'm on the verge on wanting to go home already. Surely its got to get better?

I've been in 3 times this July. There really isn't much to delight apart from the gents and the fish and chips in RN&S.
Got up above Yarmouth last week but lifting keel on chums boat dropped down. Back to Lowestoft then down to Levington for hoist and fix.

so near yet so far

Damn near ended up back in bloody Lowestoft againagain! Managed to duck into Southwold instead though.

Left Lowestoft around eight this morning and had a good sail a far as Sizewell but then it all went horrible again. F6 on the noise, big waves and the tide turning against us sent us scuttling back North for shelter

Managed to creep into Southwold but only just, bit hairy getting in to put it mildly. Beer made it all alright though :-)

Hi Brigantia, it was was good to actually meet somebody on the water from this forum and put a face behind a name. i left Lowestorft at 0600 and was heading for the Deban, wind on the nose and a bit livlely around Orford Ness made my arrival at the bar later than i wanted. Having made the decision not to enter i saw a motor sailer with mizen flapping about and a smaller yacht exit the bar, both boats were thrown about like toys in the bath, i pressed on, tucked myself up on the 2 metre depth. Rounded Shotley point and got the jenny out and had a brilliant sail up the Orewell. Now on a buoy opposite Levington, orft to ipswitch after breakfast. if you get a chance, walk up to the pier, think you both will enjoy it.
Happy sailing

Hi Laurie,

Yep, enjoyed our chat.

If my poor little legs feel up to it might take a walk up the beach road this afternoon to sample the delights of Southwold

Wish we'd left when you did rather than two hours later, if we has we might have made it to Orford. As it was, the wind, waves and foul tide stopped us dead

Still, seems nice here in Southwold harbour. :)
