The list is getting shorter......

Thanks to the Vrenys, who turned up today. Mrs V serviced one of the main winches.
Mr V helped get the mainsheet traveller back on, headlining panels back up and try and fit the transom grab handles, but we broke a bolt doing it. Bah.

No2 Sons 21st was a good lunch with mediochre food, but he was in fine form.

My time is nigh, my list is not at all complete. Oh bugger.
 
Well, we had just the one day on board this weekend that beingf yesterday, and I have to say it was a non-stop affair. With Tanya and the boys we got throught the folllowing :

- Removal of MrT name from transom/port/starboard and stripy blue line.
- Wiring in of new LED cabin lights.
- Wiring in of power supply to companionway PDA
- Reattachment of forecabin blind
- Thorough cooker clean to work out why battery ignition doesnt work - still no idea
- Fitting of new main sheet
- Sizing up of liferaft cradle
- Finish painting chart table which now looks fab
- Fitting and painting of VHF/FM radios support board
- Siting of EPIRB (fitting after companionway varnishing)
- Test varnishing of companionway - it will look fab when its done.

A great day finished of by a well deserved slap up in the Shipwreck. BAck hopefully Tuesday pm to fit/test radios

My list is getting shorter. So far I have:

- fittted an anode
- fitted an LED masthead light
- Taken out my old seacocks (the sink seacock dezincified and nearly had a disaster. )
- Waiting for new ones from ASAP supplies.

still need to :

- fit battery properly
- fit autopilot
- general clean up
- fit seacocks and skin fittings
- wire seacocks to anode.


I can't believe that when I went into a local swindlery this morning they tried to sell me Brass skin fittings and plated TONVAL seacocks. Amazing these are allowed to be sold as far as I am concerned!
 
Intended to go sailing, but the forecast 3-4 turned into a mirror like 0-1.

Ended up re-bedding one of the stanchion bases that I suspect is making the quarter berth wet. Removing old bedding compound from non-slip decking is my current most hated job.

Spent a lot of time sitting in the sun not deciding where to put a gasket for the solar panel supply.
 
We left at crack of dawn to catch the tide. The fog was so thick that we couldn't see the banks of the river so we anchored to wait for it to clear. It did so at about the time the tide turned foul, but there was no wind, so we motored home and went for a walk instead.

However, we got lots of jobs done, including me going up the mast 4 times to try to sort out the wind indicator - 4 ascents was a bit excessive, and the wind indicator still doesn't work. There's a super view from the top of a mast at Bridgemarsh!
 
Well I ran out of time and money this winter, so a quick slap of antifoul, go faster black this year, and back in she went on Saturday. I reckon the sext black bottom and go faster stripes have to be worth half a knot ;-)

Spent a lovely weekend sunbathing on the new, deeper mooring and then a mad rush to get tidy, fit new riser chain at low tide, fit lazy jacks, repair water tank and remove that damned over heating alarm for replacement.
 
A day in Hades

Last week I spent a day in the cockpit locker installing the holding tank and ached for three days afterwards. That was as nothing compared with today.

It is well known amongst Moody owners (and possibly others) that the job from hell is renewing the heads outlet hose. Not only is it almost impossible to reach but has set rock hard - aided by a generous coating of limescale. I have bled, been bruised and turned the air blue but it is done :)

Second job from hell was getting the hoses and a Y-piece all hooked up in the small cupboard under the heads basin.

Unpleasant job of the day was taking out the old loo :eek: but now there is a new one :) and by the end of the week all this will be connected up to the holding tank :cool:

A long soak in the bath with a glass of whisky has partly restored this physical wreck. Sometimes you know you're not 35 any more :o

Gordon will sympathise with that - he had bruised, skinned knuckles, burnt hands, and a stiff back for a good week after that job. I kept clear, and just plied him with coffee and sympathy!

I could go up the mast for you to replace your windvane, at the pirate weekend or some other time, if you'd like me to.

I am having a day of recuperation!

My wind unit is working just fine - it's just the bearings that have gone. If I can put up with the noise I'll sort it out next year when the mast comes down. Thanks for the offer - we shall be away still for pirate weekend but your willingness is duly noted!

Ah - have just read the manual "Inject with sewing machine oil annually" :o As I've had the boat for 4 years and done nothing and I bet the previous owner didn't then perhaps a squirt of Singers might do the job :) Pity I can't reach it....
