You have a very round-about, insulting and overly verbose way of agreeing with a bloke. It was actually a greek who first alerted me to this trend.

Oh yes, I almost forgot: I'm their CUSTOMER, they are not my "hosts". Some here have regrettably "gone native".

Chas

Its nice too see you havent changed much over the years "Only your name";)

Ah, but I start with a half kilo of draft Amstel in the cafe first, catching up with emails and watching the world go by.

Any more and my brains scramble, inhibitions disappear, I start jiving to the 60's jazz from the kebab house opposite, and my crew disappears muttering "silly old fool". Next day is hell.

Old age you see . . . can't process the stuff any more, so I've decided to become a connoiseur rather than a consumer, searching for fine Greek wines.

Oh dear, I feel a few of these symptoms coming on. Is this the beginning of the end?

Would still rather be over there with you than here though. Hope it lasts for another couple of years.

Can't make the 27th unfortunately, hope it goes well.

Surely at some point the locals will have to see sense and either drop their prices or go bang. As said, in the touristy places they may be able to get away with it but I have said more than once over the past 2 or 3 years, how can the locals afford to live with prices what they are, even in markets and 'local' shops.

Two tier pricing system! I've had beers and food in taverna's that I use frequently and the tourists get charged up to double for their's. No doubt I do too going in as a tourist into places where we are not known.

There are a few Greek kickers on the forum and it would be great for them to tell us where in the Med is cheaper with excellent cruising. Italy?
Look at todays news, the house of cards are falling. goodness knows where it will all end!

I reckon you can get cheap good grub, beer/wine in corfu without any problem, we still pay 1.5 for a big beer in the shack, not the most pretty place, but good grub, cheap and cheerful. Plus other places, if you look for them. OK, the tourist traps are expensive, but again only some of them.
Yes, I agree, the cruising is great and cheap, but the supermarket prices for staples is not cheap, just been in UK and supermarket and market stuff is cheap, compared to germany and holland, as well as greece. Fuel is also expensive. But not coming back to UK just yet, blimmin cold!! Maybe never, not long term anyway. I like the greek islands, the greek regular folk and the weather. MInd you it can certainly rain in corfu! Does the boat good though.

rtboss,Cscott has an all wooden boat as I do.Fresh water will rot timber quicker than salt. That is why many boats/ships were built with salt boxes between the frames so that any fresh water coming in would become saline.
I have seen these on Discovery in Dundee.
Anyhow more a topic for the classic boat thread.
Also putting salt water on the decks in the summer makes it more likely they will pick up moisture at night.

But Colin, I have been told over the last six months that ex-cons frequent the place. Is this true?

Ah Good! Very pleased to hear that. I thought it was some sort of naer-do- well trying to cause disharmony.

Did I read this right and is the fair Belinda "Aboard-Alone"? (NOT the way to treat an ex Ladies Circler, you know!)

Enjoy a few Oragibooms for me!

Chas

B is in UK at her mums, will be off here in a few days, then back to UK, drive down (in old wange wover) to Venice and then Corfu on ferry, be there by end of the month.
