Does anybody know the whereabouts of the Ketch IDLE HOUR, designed by Henry M. Devereux and made famous by Dwigfht Longs Circumnavigation in 1934-8?

I have an idea that a famous circumnavigating yacht is preserved in the Smithsonian Institute but I can't remember which one.

according to this article, Idle Hour was wrecked in New York years ago.

Thanks for that SeaRush. What a shame, she did have a few similar calls in the book, but his crew always managed to save it or raise the alarm.

Not quite the end of the story.
She was driven ashore in the hurricane and heavily damaged, but did not break up. With the nationwide publicity of the radio broadcast and later newspaper stories, aid came from many sources including his home city of seattle. A fund was raised for rebuilding the now-famous yacht. Once the boat was rebuilt, Long continued on through the Caribbean to Panama, and sailed the long passage uphill to Seattle, completing his circumnavigation.
Dwight and his brother, Philip, then sailed Idle Hour to Honolulu just before the war. In 1944, Philip sold her on behalf of Dwight, and the Idle Hour stayed based at the Honolulu yacht harbor until sinking off Oahu Island in 1974.
