I just thought i would bore the pants off you all with with a account of my boating break over the holiday weekend.Arrived at the coast early Friday was going to sleep on boat but SWMBO couldn,t face the chemical loo so opted for campsite..very nice place showers etc ect.Put up tent faster than the tide can run to catch morning tide, then down to harbour into tender 6galls petrol and all. Then onto my faithfull old Shetland 535 with 50hp everude all set 12 galls petrol and off we go.Motored up channel at 8knots...opps masive wash anoyed raggie ,shaking of fists etc not intentional as she waved me past.Around lifeboat station and through water sking area opens here up...yipee 26knots on the gps whoops of joy from passengers, and out to sea at reduced speed 12 knots as 3ft swell, past wells safe water bouy for 1/2 mile ,got out fishing gear and had a fish nothing doing so crused around Houlkam bay ,followed seal which must have been from Blakney Point as it didn,t mind us at all,the b***** even caught a large Sea Bass and devoured it right in front off us as though he was saying...thats how you do it!!.Then back to the harbour and mooring and That fish and chip shop, shower at camp site ,then out for some brown necter siting on quay, repeat for 4 days great weather and cheap weekend..camping...£30...Petrol £35 plus bar bill...not going to tell you that one.So there you are who said that boating is always expensive admit not the most luxurious weekend but great fun and no worries!!.

Re: Dont tell em or they will all want to come

It seems crazy that every one yearns to be on the solent with none stop hustle/bustle when here we are hardly a boat in sight !!!! and very cheap moorings to.

So did you not get any thing re fish at all, what rig were you using and bait .
I should have thought the fish would be about by now .

Is the lump still stuck , I know we had quite a good tide the other week plus the wind was about right.

Cheers
Mick

Hi,
the lump has been got off by a salvage company about two weeks ago, watched it along with about two thousand others, great atmosphere all cheared when she docked etc, they floated her off with inflation ballons shaped like sausages dug into trenches under her bow.On the old fishing side i don,t think we gave it long enough as more intrested in boating.used feathers and bass rig with squid and mackrel some lug .Next time we go out will drop anchor and give it a good go
cheers t.b.
