Well know to many hereabouts, I'm sure. But on my recent amble up the 'amble, the pontoon was empty, so couldn't resist stopping for a beer.

What a great place. Was only in the mood for a liquid lunch, so didn't sample the grub, looked good though, and a very nice beer.

We went to eat there Feb last year after visiting my newly bought boat at Deacons - even on a winter lunch time it was packed and we had to wait about an hour for a table!

What with the log fire going, it's the place I'd definitely take visiting Americans to show them a great British pub.

Went there last monday with the family tying up on their 'small' pontoon. Arrived about 19:00 and no problem getting table although it was starting to get busy by the time we left.

Food was good and would go back again although probably best to avoid busy summer weekends.
