At the 2003 boat show I popped along to see the guys at Marine Sales who sold me my boat. They had ceased being a Fairline dealer and were starting to import Fiart boats. Not a name I was aware of, and has the misfortune of being a cross between 'Fiat' and 'Fart'. Anyway, on the stand was their 28ft offering for about £100k. Quite a nice boat really but the name hasn't quite got the same cache as Sunseeker, Princess of even Fairline.
Anyway the show boat was being advertised by the dealer for the whole of last year, ending up at £80k. I now see that Essex Boatyards have the same boat on their books for £80k, with the description "Must be sold". So, if you can take a bit of ribbing from your mates and want an 15 month old/brand new 28ft Sportscruiser, with 3.5hrs on the clocks and bit of italian style then pop about £65k in a suitcase and get yourself over to Essex Boatyards.
Who says it's easy to make money in the boating game.
