The Ideal 36 footer?

Totally biased here, so if you disagree please do so gently; we bought a boat which has the handling, seakeeping and build quality characteristics of a Rusler or Vancouver but costs about half the price. It is possible to order a new one, but there are enough 2nd hand for sale and they have all been loved. Like all marques they have pros and cons and the really long keel does make close quarter handling in a marina something to do slowly after practice. Nevertheless given your requirements, Finbar, you might take a look at a Tradewind 35. Much to my surprise and with our currently very tired sails, left a beautiful Starlight 35 standing in moderate winds the other day; can't wait until the new sails are delivered.

The only drawback in my view is that they are wheel steered, I personally much prefer a tiller; but you can't have everything.
