The Hardy 40 DS

She does look good, being an old traditionalist I would love to see one with a white hull and navy blue band in the traditional Hardy fashion, I think it would look lovely.

just heard yesterday from Hardy's that they are busy building a 42 with a totally redesign interior which will be ready for SIBS, now that will be worth a look, the 42 is a really special boat IMO, a interior update could make it just perfect for my (early) retirement boat!

Have suggested to SWMBO that we might consider something more leisurely as we face our 50's, thought about Sail but this could be up our street, lovely lines but would prefer something a bit bigger with 2 en suite state rooms, not sure what the 42 layout is?

I've never been a fan of Hardy, Nimbus and Aquador, they always seem to be owned by ex-sailors that can't actually make the full leap to power. You know the types, happy at 12 knots 'cos, "They get there so fast!" Still, as we know, it really does take all types which is why there are so many successful versions over the years.

But this one is much closer to the tough and purposeful boats from Scandia' I also quite like the grey, didn't think I would but I agree, I'd like to see a blue Hardy traditional one too, if only a mock-up or model.

Anyone got a photo-shop app?

:encouragement:

As an ex sailor I'm mortally offended.

Me too, being an ex-sailor, but it is true. All these types of boats are owned by people with similar backgrounds.:encouragement:

I sailed fast Cats' so the leap was easier. Hence the Targa 40, but that was actually too quick for cruising in company.

Ha! Indeed, they do say if you want to find strange folk either find whoever is at the bar ordering pints of Aldlestone cider, or anyone that owns a catamaran or trimaran... all nuts!

GTBH, I could only ever bring myself to buy a Hardy, Aquastar, Nelson, Lochin or any variation of the former ....maybe, just maybe a Broom... but doubtful.

If boats were cars, could you see yourself driving a Rolls Royce 'cardboard box on wheels' like Lord 'Alan' Sugar, or one one of those Range Rover Evoque thingy's with the squashed down back windows a la 'Indian Bollywood' design.

.......we are stuck with the prejudices of our upbringing.;)
