Seems to be a bit on the forum about the past at the moment, which reminded me of a coincidence that happened to us.

During the late eighties, just after getting married, a friend asked me to take a look at an engine on a boat he'd bought. After making sure all was well, we left Bray and headed up through Maidenhead and Cliveden to Bourne End, where we re-fuelled and turned back for Bray.

That day changed our lives, and shortly after, we were the proud owners of a Freeman 22 mk1 which gave us endless happy days and took us to Lechlade and back with ease.

A year or so later a Princess 32 replaced the little Freeman because our first child was born and we needed more space. When number two arrived, boating proved too difficult with a toddler and a baby, so the boat was sold.

We never forgot those days, so during the summer of 2003, as our three kids were between 6 and 12 we decided we would look for another boat.
We thought it a good idea to hire a boat to make sure the kids got on OK and chose a traditional river boat which turned out to be a Seamaster 30, Mystical Deep, from Chertsey Meads Marine.
That week confirmed all was well and the next year we bough our current boat.

Last year whilst scanning some pictures from that very first, life changing day on the river, I was amazed to find lurking in the background none other than Mystical Deep.

This shows my wife in Boulters in 1988 with Mystical Deep behind her.

And this is her with mystical Deep at Sonning some 15 years later.

Nothing much seems to have changed with the boat though!
