I have a Lofrans windlass. It is haunted.

Originally I could raise or lower the anchor from the foot switches or the wireless remote.

Last year the Up foot switch brought the anchor up but the down switch did nothing. The remote would bring the anchor up whether I pressed Up or Down.

This year I have both Up and Down power from the foot switches (can't remember which is which as the labels have long gone) but the buttons on the remote are now reversed, i.e. The Up button lowers and the Down button raises.

Is this an evil spirit or my guardian angel having a laugh?

As long as it doesn't raise the anchor while you're enjoying drink at the bar, thus causing your pride and joy to float off to wherever, then that's fine... Personally, I'd be ripping the electrics apart!

Strangely enough, there was a recent article on just this happening in Pacific Yachting - I'll look it out for you if you like.

Probably. But the radio receiver is a separate box so could be partly responsible. They are both sealed boxes.

I turn the supply breaker off once the anchor is set so it can't hoist itself!
