The Full Circle 'Eat the Cupboard Tour' 2014

Well, we thought it was all going wrong yesterday, as we approached the lock to get back into Veere, and it was shut. That'll learn me, as we did a 360 pirouette there on the way up, Had to wait nearly 4 hours, so it was a quick whizz to get out of Vlissingen around last light, and we motored over to stay in Breskens, ate in Breskens Jachtclub last night, where the beer was even more expensive than Goes Town Square. After forking 14.5 eur for a burger and chips (no bun). A zero count - a tinless day.

Today is also a tinless day - disaster. Still, we are about to sample the delights of De Amandine, as rec by Will. Proper Moules Frites. Mrs FC disappeared into the forecabin, and she packed me off shopping. When I got back from foraging, I find she has been replaced by someone who vaguely looks like her, but with make up on and a dress. She is a corker, and I have invited her to dinner. I have left a tin out for Mrs FC for when she returns.

A lazy day tomorrow, but we are making an all in stew for the night crossing tomorrow, so tins will be culled, mushrooms, peas, mixed vegetables. However, the supplement is the last of the fresh pots, onions, and all glued together by some superb looking stewing beef from a really good Oostende butcher. MrD's thermal cooker will work it's magic tomorrow, and then into the Thermos stew holding thingy.

De Amendine well worth the recommendation - superb Moules and a very crisp Muscadet.

EAORA fleet in the bar (Buckley Goblets) we were invited to their drinky poos, but have retired to the boat. Such is aging.

Young lady from boat rafted out kept referring to the fact that theirs is a racing boat, as if I didn't know. Perhaps it was our towed dinghy and 2 pushbikes on the rail........

Have really enjoyed this thread.

Just back from a short trip, where I was allowed to rustle up the occasional stew from the boats stores. Not allowed to keep much there in case it goes out of date. Even worse.....she doesn't like FB pies!

Hope you have a quiet crossing.

Following FC's example, on Friday night we had Bouef en daube et pommes de terre nouvelle. Followed by Abricots avec sauce anglaise.**

Very good it was too.

** translation Sainsburys tinned beef casserole, with tinned pots, tinned apricots and tinned custard.
This leaves our pantry with only 2 weeks worth of food, mind if Ukraine heats up any more we might need more.

Always thought that beef casserole would go well with custard. Can't persuade Susanna to make the Heston-style leap though...

Glad to see you didn’t sink, and still have the tender.

As to others, do not believe the picture of someone struggling along on porridge and grits. The tin store on Full Circle can produce food that would grace a 3 star Michelin restaurant, and the beer is excellent.

Full Cirlce also has some fancy dan loo system that laughs at problems of 'dark water' storage
