The Fosdyke Ship has sunk

Went to Fosdyke on Friday evening prior to sailing for the day on Saturday, intending to have a meal and drink at the Ship Inn. Alas it was all closed up, despite the signs still being outside saying Open for Food, etc. I feared it would never last through the winter, given the sparse clientele in the summer, but I hadn't thought it would sink quite this fast. I presumed it has closed for good. There was no notice on the door to explain a temporary closure. So be warned, don't turn up at Fosdyke expecting to be able to slake your thirst or eat your fill at the Ship, and there is nowhere else for miles!

Hi Keith, we called in yesterday and also found them closed, called Batemans and they're going to chase the area manager but as far as they know, they should still be trading. Closed on Monday though so I can't check when down this evening, if the rain holds off long enough for me to get some water out that is

Unlikely on this one though, the takings were probably just about enough to cover a bus fare. I'll speak to the director later and see if he can find out what's happening but we did say the place was going to take more than your average dreamer landlord. Wait and see though, maybe there was a good reason for it but I'm sure they are going to be happy that people are noticing what's going on there

Couldn't agree more Ken, but I think we would have to make them more regular than they are now to make any real difference. Not sure how others would go for the idea but as it's the most convenient place maybe we should try for a regular monthly meet ?
If we could go for that it might be worth my calling the area manager on his mobile to give some encouragement, but as he still wants me to take the place over I wouldn't want to get his hopes up without some good news to give him.
Heading towards winter slowly but surely and I don't know of anywhere else in The Wash area that's quite as convenient by road and sea, and I'm quite happy to organise another meet if there's some support from others here.
Over to you and others, I know Keith tried to make the last meet but was away at the time, but there's others that might be up for it too, just needs a bit of help along the way

Easy enough for me anyway :D
Still trying to sort out a few things so I can move but for now I'm still there, need the shore power and pontoon until I've stopped the water coming in
Let's see how many are up for another meet and if we get a few I'll chase the man and see what he says. Don't much fancy a barbecue on the pontoon but there's always ways to get around things ;)

The Ship is back up and running having been bought, a couple of years ago, from the brewery that used to run it. Food is excellent and the beer is kept well too.
