First venture out this year has brought us up the river and onto the brand new Newcastle City Marina.

Just to share with you guys, what a fantastic place to bring your boat. Staff are all very helpfull, free electric and water and all in the heart of this brilliant city.

If your thinking of coming, book via the website and they sort out the swing of the millenium bridge for you (24 hrs notice) which was an awesome experience to pass under.

If you do come i hope you enjoy it as much as we have,

Happy sailing

Andy

There used to be a council pontoon just downstream of the blinking eye (millenium bridge) for visitors. A couple of years ago we called in advance and were alocated a space as perscribed. Motored up river seven miles to find the pontoon full of tripper boats who were quite vocal about where we should go, contacted the council managers who were not interested so went back down to Royal Quays.

Hope this one is better run. Cant complain too much as was not that interested in stopping in town but the trip up river satisfied my love of industrial history.

Mr Status, the pontoon you remember is still there, but the upstream visitor section is occupied by 'Flowmill' - a work of er, art. Flowmill may remain all summer - a Newcastle Council idea.

When Flowmill is gone you should phone ahead 0191 221 1363 to book a berth.

Thanks Dylan, I admire your work too lol

The pontoon is very well run and just round the corner from St Peters tommy, give it a go next time :)

St, the only thing to keep me awake was a few bumps in the night , logs and stuff floating down on the ebb

cheers guys
