The Fleshpots of Weymouth

About 50 yards towards the bridge from the HM office is a little Bistro just on the street. Tiny front to it but it seems to go back miles once you're inside. Anyway, best full english I've ever had there. With at least two of anything you can think of. Only cost a fiver too. Bloomin' brilliant.

The King's Head between the Cove and the bridge is a pleasant pub, serves a good 49er and does food most lunchtimes. The Red Lion in Hope square is a bit odd, but serves some good local beer. Both the Crows nest and the Galley in Hope square are good, IMO as good as Mallams but not as snooty and you don't get amputated when the bill arrives. (Loacals will doubtless disagree, they always do.) Especially recommend the Moules in the Crows Nest, and the Barramundi in the Galley. Floods I recall is good, but you have to book a week in advance. Similarly for Mallams, the others it is advisable to book for a Friday or Saturday, or eat early. The New Rooms Inn right next to cove is a child-friendly pub with average beer and harvester-type food. But you can usually find a seat if the others are all booked up.

We spent a week waitng for a weather window last month, got to know it better than we wanted to. Bus ride to the Bill to watch the waves crashing against the rocks is recommended if you get the same weather, the walk back along the east coast of Portland also. It goes through all the old quarries where they used to film Dr Who, Blakes Seven and so on.

Precis of a discussion between self and SWMBO last Thursday afternoon:

N: " We've finally got the boat to ourselves - we could have a shag now."
K: " If you can catch one darling, I will cook it for you"

N: Totally lost for words, went to look for something else to do /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
