The Deben September 2020 - A lovely Day

Clare Francis who I much admire for her sailing as well as her books has written a book 'Deceit' set on the Deben. She makes much of the mud. However a critical issue in the book is someone in a large sailing boat exiting the Deben in bad weather. Later the boat sinks. It is a great story as are all her books but I think she might make light of the Deben entrance. Or maybe teh lone sailor in the large yacht was lucky at least until the boat sinks. I looked up whether like so many great English sailors if Clare Francis was from teh East Coast. But no she is a South Coast person. 'Deceit' is well worth a read.

Ahoy there Capt Bp a sincere Thank You for taking /making that Video, very very much appreciated I can tell you; I was up there the next week the weather being great, as in you Video; like the slower action shots that you do; far better than that fast panning/ moving shots often observed; might ask if you took the High shots and if so on what ? would greatly appreciate you recollecting your experience with such a device; great memories of that River and its on shore facilities; used to walk the Tideline (whenever possible) from Methersgate to the Rocks when in myYounger Years; recall the Rocks for the midges as much as anything else; when up there this year we thought that much had not really changed since the 50s and 60s around the Deben and the Felixstowe to Woodbridge locality; thats If one keeps of the New Fast Docks Roadway; miss that Speedway that we were taken to, is that Track still there ? different Yachts now, smaller and not crewed by Paid Hands; less commercial fishing boats etc, them all gone to South Coast and Cowes I think ?

The high shots were taken with a DJI Mavic Air Drone that I generally take with me while boating. They are very easy to fly and take lovely video and Pics

The speedway track is I think still there it is the Home of Ipswich Witches

Glad you like the video and the memories it rekindled
