My old Mum died recently and her funeral took place last Friday. Whilst I am sad at her passing she was ready to go and we had said our goodbyes so all is really OK.
On Friday evening I was wandering through a few emails and opened one from the offspring. She had attached an image of the scan she has just had. A life ending and a new one beginning.
 
Congratumiserations. I am glad you were at one with your Mum, it really does help. Best of luck to your offspring and the bump.
 
Very nicely put John - we were both sad to hear of it. We've lost our parents, and we found it takes quite a long time to get over it. The finality of it all hits you. Occasionally, and quite unexpectedly, you might hear yourself say something your mum or dad might have said. Or, for no particular reason, you recall the timbre of the voice, or the sound of a laugh.

The great cycle of life is a compensation though, and I'm hoping that my grandchildren will be sailing with us soon. Will the Chentleman's Cruise evolve into the Grandkids and Old Gits Cruise in a few years time?
 
May she rest in peace. Felt the same when my Mum popped off in August. Commiserations and fond memories.

Father-in-law's funeral was on 22nd January this year in pouring rain. The 23rd was a beautiful sunny day and a grand-daughter was born. We are just part of a bigger picture.
 
I had a similar experience years ago. My Mother died very suddenly when I was 25. We were all in shock, but the very next day my sister in law gave birth to a baby girl. A new arrival certainly does help you come to terms with a 'departure'.
