Last few times we've been to Osborne bay there's been an Antares 42 with a line around the private beach / swimming area marker buoys.

Now correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think those marker buoys were ever intended to hold a 44ft motorboat for long periods of time? Every other boat at Osborne bay manages to anchor apart from this Antares.

I just feel it's a bit cheeky when everyone else drops the hook. I mean it's not exactly hard to anchor there. Maybe I'm just being a grump and they have a valid excuse for doing this?

I can't summon much sympathy for English Heritage since they're trying to fence off and possess a chunk of sea that in fact we all have a right to use. But it is pretty poor seamanship to tie up to a marker buoy like that.

In practice in the sort of weather you'd want to sit in Osborne Bay in, I doubt there's enough load to do much harm.

And contrary to a LNTM. Sometimes people are just pillocks for no real reason, he would probably be the first to complain about a sailing boat tacking backwards and forwards in front of him up the Hamble river too...

Ignorant,Lazy or Both ?

Grrr....Whatever the politics of Osbourne Bay ,as a former member of two small shoestring clubs who used to lay their own moorings,it a was constant problem of boats, probably marina berthed boat owners to lazy to push the electric anchor button on the dashboard, grabbing hold of our mooring bouys and pulling the ground tackle out of line.
The owner of this boat is basically ignorant or lazy.
It matters not one jot,you do not grab a turn on anything not designed to be moored on wether it is vast minted organisation or a bargain basement club.
This bloke needs to go back to golf or whatever transitory pastime caught his fancy before boating. :)
