We've been members for a year and renewal has focused my mind to get some value from it. I thought I'd take a look at what info is available for Scottish cruising on the website (having just spent many pounds on pilot books). If there's useful information on there I can't find it - does anyone have any tips on navigating this website? Feels like a scrapbook to me with random things all over the place but many people seem to rave about it so thought I should ask and seek enlightenment!
Thanks

Dunno, but 20 odd years ago someone told me the physical library is well worth a visit. He certainly thought that was where the value was.

CAPTAIN'S MATE APP - https://www.theca.org.uk/ciapp

Does this help?

Captains Mate shows loads of POE around Scotland (circles go orange when 10 or more in area). Zoom right in on the app to a specific area to expand and separate the detail.

Try the 'Captains Mate' App.
Alas, the CA Captains Mate app repeatedly crashes on my Android phone, makes it unusable. It's probably my phone causing the problem, at least I can't say it's the app with any certainty.

I haven't had a problem with Android, IF I have signal.

Ah yes the locations in the app id somehow missed entirely. Thats helps a lot. The web sections seemed fairly unhelpful when i looked through them.

The magazine is challenging for cruisers, no postbox 😬
I hope the new site includes a new approach. Currently the content feels very disjointed due to the overblown organisation but lacks the benefits of actual crowdsourcing (like a wiki, for instance).

The magazine can be viewed electronically in a (pretty good) flip reader application. Also can be downloaded. The magazine is packed with useful information, not all of which will be relevant to every reader, I pick and choose accordingly, but it’s very useful. You can opt out of the hard copy if you wish.

Haha so much i didn't know, glad i started the thread!
My experience of the CA is that it’s important to engage with it for it to be useful. If ignored then it doesn’t/cannot deliver the member benefits. The members discounts are certainly worth exploring if you plan to spend money on the boat.
