Blimey. Is it still going? We used to do it back in the '90s but people started to lose interest. One reason was that some sailors brought dogs, who were allowed to run after the ball and ruin the game. As a spin bowler, I was at something of a disadvantage, but had the occasional success.

It was probably something of a surreal occasion, especially if it was the one when we had to leave Tollesbury, our opponents, in the dark at 4am to catch the tide.
