Ridiculous and it’s a big rig on it too. The bottle screws were knackered. One sail from loosing the lot. Even I take my mast down and check it.

Not servicing your rigging is stupid/naive/lazy but “my” rigger tells me there’s no need to bring your mast down routinely - as 99% of jobs can be done with the mast up.

Presumably at some point Erik has climbed the mast to fix something? It may be a misplaced fear - but climbing a dodgy mast worries me far more than the mast coming down sailing.
